Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kind of church is this?
We endeavor to be a “New Testament” church, as we see described in Acts 2:37-47.

  • What do you believe?
We believe that Jesus is the only way to the Father and that the Bible is infallible and the basis of knowing how to live. We believe the Holy Spirit still manifests His power today, just like He did in the book of Acts.
  • How is the church run?
We believe that Jesus is the head of the Church and delegates the responsibility to run the local church to elders, whom He has chosen. Within this group there is one called the senior elder or senior pastor, who is primarily responsible for the vision and direction of the local church.
  • What about money?
We believe that the Bible teaches us the grace of giving and that each member should participate in the financial support of the local church. The elders are very conscious that they are only stewards of the Lord’s money and carefully account for it through proper accounting practices, the use of annual budgets and outside audits.
  • Why do you praise & worship the way you do?
Our praise and worship is patterned after what we see in both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.
  • How do I join Sojourn?
You join Sojourn by attending and completing our “Catch the Vision” class. It is scheduled throughout the year and is a prerequisite both for membership and for being in a position of leadership at Sojourn.
  • Where did the name Sojourn come from?
When we started the church, our first location was on Sojourn Drive. After much prayer we believed that Sojourn (meaning to dwell as a foreigner, knowing that our true citizenship is in heaven) was the name God wanted for us.
  • How do I get more involved?
The primary way to get involved at Sojourn is to come to one of the weekend worship services, attend the various special meetings and join a Sojourn Group. Sojourn Groups are small groups that meet in homes, businesses, or at Sojourn. They are the primary way to build relationships, receive pastoral care and come under the authority and protection of the church.
