Ministries

The ministries of Sojourn Church are designed to meet the needs of our members, our community, and the nations of the world. Browse our different ministries and explore the variety of opportunities for you and your family to grow and mature in your faith, to develop healthy relationships, to care for one another, and to reach out to our community and to the world.
Children's Ministry

Sojourn Church is committed to providing a spiritually rich environment where children can grow in their faith and deepen their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Children are a gift from the Lord. They are special to both you as parents and to us as a church. Our children’s ministry is designed to support parents in their responsibility for the spiritual nurture and growth of their children.
Sojourn Church’s Children's Ministry is made up of dedicated workers who love children and are committed to their spiritual well-being. We aim to provide a standard of excellence at every level of our Children’s Ministry. We understand the significance of partnering with the Lord as He prepares the next generation for the advancement of His kingdom. We want the children to increase in their knowledge of the Bible, to walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, and to grow in Godly character. Click here if you would like more information about how you can become one of our dedicated volunteers.
During all services, Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will meet in the Youth Room for Children’s Church. Preschool Children’s Church will be offered in the Adventure Zone for four year olds and five year olds who haven’t had their birthday by September 1. Children younger than Preschool Children’s Church will continue to promote to a new class the month after their birthday.
Also, students in the 4th & 5th grade will attend Impact during the morning service. Students in the 6th grade attend youth on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
To request childcare for an event at Sojourn Church, please submit a request form.
We provide loving childcare for babies in our nursery. Toddler through Kindergarten children attend classes that teach stories from the Bible and introduce key characters from God’s Word. In addition to learning their favorite Bible stories, the children usually participate in a time of worship, a related craft, and a snack.
Standards
In order to maintain an excellent standard, our adult/child ratios are a key component in our classrooms. This allows us to create a safe and productive teaching environment. We ask every member or couple with children in the Children’s Ministry to serve one service a month in a class. This approach allows us to spread the responsibility of teaching the children evenly among our members while ensuring that they are being taught by those who know them the best and love them the most.
All of our paid personnel and volunteers have been processed through a criminal background check and many have CPR and First Aid certification. We have high standards of ethics and practices to which we hold all staff.
Availability
When the adults meet at Sojourn Church for a service, we make every effort to provide quality childcare. However, one time events and special services at Sojourn often require parents to sign up in advance for child care. The bulletin or website are the best source for information on these special events.
"Let the little children come unto me… for such is the Kingdom Of Heaven." ...Matthew 19:14 NKJ
Healing Prayer Ministry
The intent and heart of this ministry is to extend supernatural healing into our communities by inviting the hurting to come to the church for prayer. We are expecting to see miracles of various kinds as teams lay hands on each one after a few minutes of waiting in God's presence.

Sojourn Church believes that Biblical Christianity applies to all of life including the workplace (i.e., business, education, or government, etc.) Therefore, it is believed that the principles and values by which Christians should work are found in the Bible as illuminated by the Holy Spirit. To assist the members of Sojourn Church in properly applying the Bible to workplace issues, Sojourn established a business council. The purpose of the business council is to articulate a Biblical Worldview on workplace issues and to serve as a resource to the leaders and members of Sojourn church in the following ways:
- provide teaching and training on workplace topics
- provide advice to the church staff regarding financial, operational, and facilities matters;
- provide simple business, financial, and career counseling advice;
- be a resource for next generation training (i.e., act as an educational resource for youth and young adults as they transition into the workplace); and
- assist in resolving disputes between Christians.

Outreach and Missions
2012 Missions Commitment Form
To advance the Kingdom, we must reach out beyond ourselves. It begins with us becoming salt and light to the world around us and ultimately reaches to the ends of the earth. "...And you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Acts 1:8 NKJ
"JERUSALEM" -- OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
It is our desire that everyone who comes to Sojourn would take personal responsibility to pray for those they live around, becoming a “Lighthouse of Prayer” in their neighborhood, building relationships in a non-religious way, praying for the opportunity to release the love and power of God so we can ultimately have the opportunity to share the good news of Jesus with them.
Sojourn offers several area outreaches. Click here to find out more information about these opportunities to minister in our community.
"JUDEA" -- THE DALLAS / FORT WORTH METROPOLITAN AREA
God has placed us in this area to join with other churches and ministries to touch our cities with His love. We work with various inner-city ministries with whom we have built relationships, to serve them and work together to see His Kingdom come here as it is in heaven. We also have joined with other churches to sponsor conferences, joint meetings and outreaches. We recognize that we are only a small part of what God is doing in this area, and we recognize how much we need each other. It is going to take the whole church to reach this metropolitan area for the Kingdom of God.
"SAMARIA" -- TEXAS & THE NATION
We have formed, along with Restoration Church and Dudley Hall and T. D. Hall, an apostolic network of churches and ministries called the Fellowship of Connected Churches and Ministries. The purpose of this fellowship is to help the participating churches and ministries become everything God has destined us to be. Through this fellowship we are reaching out to our state and nation.
THE ENDS OF THE EARTH
Starting in 1990 we began to go to the nations. God directed us to build relationships with people whom we believe to be apostles and who share a similar vision. Currently we are involved in Romania, Cambodia, Turkey and India with men and women who are having a major impact in their areas of the world. We have others from our body who have gone to the nations and are now working in Thailand, Mongolia and Spain, and we have hundreds of people from Sojourn who have visited many other nations on short-term trips. Most of our mission efforts focus on what is called the “10/40 Window,” the least evangelized area of the world today.
We pray, serve, go and send money to see the Kingdom of God advanced in the world. Each fall we raise money from our church body to support the work of those with whom we are in relationship around the world. We believe that we are to focus on a few and build deeply with them, instead of working with many whom we don’t know very well. If you would like to be involved in praying for the nations, join us for Operation World.

WallBuilders
David Barton
WallBuilders is an organization dedicated to presenting America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on the moral, religious, and constitutional foundation on which America was built—a foundation which, in recent years, has been seriously attacked and undermined. In accord with what was so accurately stated by George Washington, we believe that “the propitious [favorable] smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation which disregards the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself has ordained.”

We believe that we were created to worship God and give Him all glory, honor and praise. We want to be worshipers who respond to His love and grace through our praise and worship.
"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24 NKJ
OUR STYLE OF WORSHIP
The Bible makes it clear that God’s people have always demonstrated their love and adoration for Him in many expressive ways. That is why you will see people at Sojourn freely praising and worshiping through music, singing, shouting, clapping, dancing, lifting up hands, and singing in the spirit.
Though our praise and worship is for Him, we are the beneficiaries because He dwells in the praises of His people. As we come together and focus on Him, He manifests His presence in our midst in unique ways. Many times we are touched in such personal ways that people are healed, delivered and receive awesome revelation of His love for us.
We Believe
He alone is worthy of all praise and worship.
We were created to worship Him in spirit and truth.
He is looking for worshipers.
Praise and worship is God-centered rather than man-centered.
Praise and worship is a response to His awesome love.
Praise and worship is a lifestyle.
It is our prayer that everyone who comes to Sojourn would become a true worshiper of the One who is worthy of all praise and worship. The expressive praise and worship we have at Sojourn may be different from what you have experienced. We understand this, but we ask you to search God’s Word to see how His people have expressed their praise and worship to Him in the past and will forever do so in heaven.

Submit a Prayer Request Prophetic Word given by Roxanne Buschacher during Prayer Seminar, Jan.22 - 23
While I was preparing for this teaching over this past week the Lord began to speak a word in my heart for you, this corporate group. I have written it down. It starts with a scripture from Habakkuk 1:5 (In King James)
Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvelously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you. A river will flow from your place of intimacy with Me which will water this earth with intercession. I give you this day the desire of your heart and from this desire, out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water. You ask for portals but I tell you, you are the portal. You are the portal for My Holy Spirit, spilling out into this world and changing the atmosphere. You will usher in, you will usher in the Spirit of intercession, first ankle deep, then knee deep, then waters that cannot be passed over, waters in which to swim, a river which will reach into every dark place with a cry of agreement that will rise to me. You are familiar with the rhythm on which music floats, I say now to you: you will learn a new rhythm, the new rhythm on which intercession floats. This is a day of asking, it is a day of seeing, a day of infinite possibilities. Before you ask I will be answering, just ask!

Youth Parent Meeting
Sunday Febuary 12 at 4:30PM
If you are the parent of a Jr. High or Sr. High Student, plan to join us for an update on exciting plans for the Student Ministries for 2012.
The student ministry at Sojourn is designed for the middle school through high school age group (6th grade - 12th grade). We believe they are going to change their world through the love of God. Through a solid foundation in the Word of God, and a practical understanding of how to apply that in today's world, we are helping them develop a biblical world view and equipping them to advance the Kingdom of God.
The youth ministry at Sojourn challenges the youth to be all God has called them to be. Looking at their Heavenly Father and realizing their true identity as sons, daughters and heirs, results in a life of devotion. The love that burns in God's heart for them - flowing through them - will change their world and ours.
It’s not enough for our youth to just go to church. The world needs a generation who will be the church and do great exploits for their God. That’s why our youth are trained to pray and proactively care for one another and others as God opens the door.
The youth have special worship services, prayer meetings, Bible study, times of training and equipping and regular local outreaches; all are specifically designed to impact this age group and draw them closer to Jesus. We are grateful for the leadership team God has given us for our youth ministry. If you are interested in being involved in the Student Ministries Team, click here.
Missions and Special Events
In addition to our local outreaches, the youth make short-term mission trips, usually during the summer months. They have gone on a number of foreign mission trips. They also network with the larger body of Christ and attend youth conferences and seminars during the year. And, of course, they make time for special fun gatherings scattered throughout the year.
